There are certain conditions which may affect your treatment., we have tried to answer some often asked questions for your benefit below
Due to the nature of massage and the movement and removal of toxins and excess water from the body, this treatment is not suitable for everyone, depending on your current state of health and severity of your condition.
Massage helps to detoxify the body and stimulate the body’s immune system to promote healing and to fight infection. Massage helps the body move excess toxins, water and metabolic waste in a way that cleanses the body and promotes the immune system and healing.
Massage can help undo the effects of a lifestyle such as eating too many processed foods/generally poor diet, lack of fluids, lack of exercise, regular flying on aircraft, stressful job, hectic home life.
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice of cancellations, otherwise a fee may be charged.
You should feel nicely relaxed and de-stressed. Often people say they feel revitalised and uplifted.
You may feel tired or have some soreness. You may need to visit the toilet more frequently after your treatment. You may also develop mild spots, cold-like symptoms and rashes. These are due to now-released toxins circulating in your body until they are eliminated, usually over a day or two. These are perfectly normal as it’s your body healing itself. With more frequent treatments these symptoms should reduce.
Some people also experience a heightened emotional state. This is a common reaction and shows your treatment is being effective. Again, they should last only a day or two. If you follow the advice below then it should not be troublesome for you.
Yes. You should avoid exercise, sun-beds or saunas. While in a relaxed state your blood pressure will be lower. This could lead to you passing out if you ask a lot of your body such as going into hot temperatures.
You should avoid stimulants such as alcohol, caffeine and fizzy drinks as these can dehydrate your body. Do drink plenty of water or herbal teas for the rest of the day to help flush out the body toxins which will have been released during your treatment.
Avoid heavy meals for at least 2 hours after treatment.
Depending on the technique used, you may or may not need to undress. If you are having an Indian head massage this is carried out over light clothing. For a facial massage, you may need to remove your jumper or top. You will have privacy to undress, and you will be covered with towels always except the area being worked on.
Male clients: please note that underwear MUST be worn during treatment sessions and please wear a tee-shirt under your shirt (shirt will be removed)

Prior to your treatment, I’ll ask some questions to help rule out any health conditions that may not be appropriate for treatment (see the contraindications page) and help me determine what you want to gain from your session.
You are then left in privacy to settle yourself on the therapy couch, wrap yourself in warm towels and make yourself comfortable prior to your treatment.
You will be covered always to ensure privacy and warmth. Your only responsibility is to close your eyes, relax, breathe, and let me know if you have any questions. Please do not worry if you fall asleep during your therapy this is a compliment to the therapist as you are totally relaxed.
After your treatment is complete, the therapist will leave the room so you can take your time composing yourself and getting dressed when you feel ready. A drink of water is provided after every session because it is important to drink plenty to flush the toxins out from your system that are released during massage. You should feel relaxed, refreshed, peaceful and rejuvenated.
